The producer

Revived in 2020, Tarime is a coffee rooted in resilience. Located near the Kenya-Tanzania border, this highland district had once paused production due to regulatory changes, but has since returned stronger with a renewed focus on quality and farmer support.

Produced by smallholder farmers working in partnership with a local initiative, this coffee highlights an exciting and often underrepresented origin. Farmers here cultivate small plots averaging 1–2 acres, often alongside food crops, and now receive higher premiums that reflect the care and effort behind each harvest.

Cherries are grown at elevations of 1600–1800 masl and naturally processed with precision. They are dried slowly on raised beds for around three weeks, with frequent turning to prevent over-fermentation. This patient approach allows the fruit to impart deep sweetness and clarity — hallmarks of a well-executed natural process.
