The coffee
This particular lot is of the Guará variety, and has undergone the pulped natural process, resulting in a bit more fruit and spice to compliment its classically sweet chocolatey character. Because Fazenda Horizontina is in the Cerrado region, a region known for being hotter in climate, it is important to choose a variety that does well in that climate and has disease resistance to ensure sustainability. The Guará variety is exactly that, as it is a selection of the Catucai variety which has high leaf rust disease resistance, and grows well in warmer conditions with drier soil.

The producer
We continue on into our third year of working with Fernando Beloni, a man who has been dedicated not just to coffee but to regenerative farming as a whole. In fact, his farm is the first recognised regenerative farm in the world, showcasing how this pioneer of a Brazilian producer truly believes in making impact! Over the years he has consistently focused on boosting biodiversity, as well as increasing soil quality, to ensure further sustainability of his farms.
